After months of tireless work, Salvos Stores is delighted to announce the reopening of our Sherwood location.
Store operations were halted in late February of this year following the severe flooding that devastated much of Queensland and Northern New South Wales.
“It’s been a difficult few months for the whole community but we are finally starting to see light at the end of the tunnel. Despite the damage caused, the community has really banded together to support those affected” commented Area Manager, Stuart Estreich.
The flooding that occurred in late Feb caused untold damage across the state, the effects of which are still being felt to this day. Two Salvos Stores in the local area experienced flooding, like so many other businesses and homes in the area.
“The Salvation Army have been on the ground supporting those affected by the floods and the Salvos Stores Sherwood team are looking forward to connecting with our regular customers and other members of the community again, when our doors re-open”.
According to Estreich the team was unable to access the store for three days following the flooding. Once they managed to get inside, they needed to wait an additional week for the water to recede before beginning the extensive clean-up effort.
“As soon as the water had drained, we were able to begin clearing the store. It was no easy feat, but the team really pulled together and put in a great effort to get the job done”.
Having been closed for over three months the Sherwood store team are delighted to be welcoming customers and the wider community back through their doors from this Thursday 16th of June 2022.
The store will continue to raise funds that will go directly back into local community and will enable The Salvation Army to provide on-going support to those in need.
The refurbished store will be well stocked with a wide variety of pre-loved clothing, accessories and homewares. In addition to items the community have come to expect from the store.
Donations are always welcomed, and those looking to donate are encouraged to do so Monday to Saturday during opening hours. For those with larger items to donate, free home collections ca n be arranged by calling 13 72 58.
Salvos Stores operate over 351 retail stores nationally as well as an online store. We support The Salvation Army by raising funds for nationwide community programs through the sale of goods across their store network. Profits raised at the Sherwood store will continue to go towards the provision of local community programs and support.
