The Sally Stanley Smocking Pleater gives 24 rows of perfect pleats. It is easy to use and gets you smocking quickly. The Sally Stanley Smocking Pleater is robustly constructed and needs no maintenance. Needles may be replaced by loosening the small screws which secure the locking plates.
Smocking is an embroidery technique used to gather fabric so that it can stretch.
The smocking pleater pulls in the fabric through solid metal rollers and folds the fabric while pushing it onto the special curved needles that sit in grooves in the rollers. The pleated fabric is pulled down onto the threaded needles saving countless hours of hand stitching embroidery.
