Jack Roe was born in Broome, Western Australia but moved to Darwin at an early age.

Creating art has been a family tradition for Jack that has been handed down to him to continue. Jack has been creating art for over 16 years. Jack’s artwork reflects the land and sea of the country on which his lives and where he ancestors reside.

Early in Jack’s career as an artist he established a market stall at the famous Mindil Beach markets in Darwin and self promoted his works there for many years. In more recent times Jack has worked in the area of art therapy with local artists and non-artists to assist them in reconnecting with culture and country. In particular he has worked with homeless adult artists on a project called “Arts in the Long Grass”.
